Arizona Bed and Breakfast Budget Hotel Guest House Accommodation
Arizona is a place of contrasts, known for its desert climate and dusty sun-parched cowboy trails, but featuring in its north, forest, mountains and the mighty Colorado River. This is the region of the Grand Canyon National Park, one of the first to be created in the US, which makes it a top destination for many visitors from all over the world, drawn here just to wonder at the awe-inspiring splendour of this incredible rugged landscape. Phoenix is the largest city and capital of the state. Tucson is located 110 miles southeast, and is its second largest city. It is home to the University of Arizona, one of only 3 public universities in Arizona, the other two being based in Flagstaff in the north and the Arizona State University in the capital.

The Grand Canyon can be explored from a series of stations situated around its periphery, such as the South Rim, the North Rim and the Eastern Edge. The Canyon's western edge is accessible via roads on the Hualapai Indian Reservation. Because of its proximity to Flagstaff and Williams, most visitors travel to the south, which offers facilities located at the Grand Canyon Village. The Grand Canyon Railway, however, will take you on a 3.5 hour round trip and can be boarded in Williams. The Colorado River itself is a means to experience the Canyon for those looking for excitement and adventure.
There are rafting trips which usually start at Lees Ferry near Page. You can also join a helicopter or aeroplane tour from the Grand Canyon Airport. Whatever you do- don't miss it.
There are a number of Astronomy attractions in Arizona, syuch as the Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff where the planet Pluto was discovered, and the Kitt Peak National Observatory on the Tohono O'odham Indian Reservation near Tucson. West of Winslow, and in the middle of the Colorado Plateau, is the 'Meteor Crater', one of the best-preserved meteorite impact sites in the world.
The origin of Arizona provides the focus within the Arizona-Sonora Desert in the south of the state, for a series of visitor attractions where, according to principles set out in the National Geographic Geotourism Charter, tourism has not damaged or interfered with the geographical character of the region but rather has sustained and enhanced it. There are currently 84 sites that demonstrate these principles, from the Apache Trail and Casa Grande Ruins National Monument in Phoenix and Central Arizona to Taliesin West in Scottsdale and the Tubac Presidio State Historic Park. It is possible also to visit Native American reservations such as the Navajo Reservation which is the home of the largest tribe in the US with a reservation the size of Ireland.
While Arizona is blessed with sunshine and spectacular natural beauty, you cannot overlook that beyond these exist another welcome attraction: the local cuisine. Food selections are so diverse and unique, from authentic Native American to Mexican, the only thing you might need to worry about is your waistline.
