Tennessee Bed and Breakfast Budget Hotel Guest House Accommodation
Located in the southern region of the US and known as the 'Volunteer State' due to the large number of soldiers from the state who joined in the war of 1812, Tennessee's capital city is Nashville and largest city is Memphis. The state is divided into 3 geographic and constitutional regions.
West Tennessee is bordered by the Tennessee and Mississippi rivers. It remained Indian land until the Chickasaw Cession of 1818. This zone of rolling hills and streams stretches from the undulating banks of the Tennessee river in the east across the Tennessee Bottoms as far as Memphis, where they end in steep bluffs overlooking the Mississippi river. Downtown Memphis features Beale Street, now a great area to enjoy the soulful rhythms of the night within its wide variety of clubs, as well as boutiques, galleries and restaurants. Historically, it was a haven for African Americans such as W.C. Handy, B.B. King and Rufus Jones, who migrated to the mecca of soul music from outlying villages. A major attraction not to be missed is the Graceland Mansion, where the history of Memphis as the birthplace of rock 'n' roll unfolds, and the life story of Elvis is viewed with an amazing attention to detail which will delight all fans. Following on from this, you can tour the legendary Sun Studio, where many of the seminal recordings of the early rock 'n' roll years were made. Outside the city, visit the Tennessee River Freshwater Pearl Museum in Camden, the Ulderich Blueberry Farm for the true pick-your-own experience, and the National Civil Rights Museum which chronicles the movement from times of slavery to the present day.
For a journey to the roots of Tennessee's musical heritage, visit Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium, called the 'Mother Church of Country Music'. Join musical legends at the Country Music Hall of Fame and the Grand Ole Opry. A paradise for history buffs, Nashville also offers one of the state's oldest working state capitol buildings, antebellum homes and trails, and historic battlefields. Middle Tennessee hits thrill seekers with the Nashville Superspeedway races, Tennessee Titans football games and a gallery of golfing greens. Equestrian admirers can horseplay along the Tennessee Walking Horse Trail.
