Wyoming Bed and Breakfast Budget Hotel Guest House Accommodation
Situated in the Western region of the US, the state of Wyoming is dominated by the mountain ranges belonging to the Rocky Mountain West, while the eastern region is an area of prairie known as the High Plains. The centrepiece of Wyoming's Northwest is the Yellowstone National Park. But Grand Teton National Park, Jackson Hole, the Bighorn Canyon National Recreation Area, Wind River Canyon, the Wind River Indian Reservation and more make this region a favourite for tourists from throughout the country and across the globe. Yellowstone was the first of America's National Parks and the Shoshone National Forest the first of America's National Forests, both of which are in this region. You can stay at one of the superb mountain ski resorts for winter outdoor fun, or join in a real dig in one of the area's many archaeological and paleontological sites, and get up close to the remains of a dinosaur. The range of activities on offer is endless. At the Yellowstone West Thumb Geyser Basin, join a tour to explore the amazing hot pools and mud pots. Guided trails are led daily with a special focus on enhancing the experience of nature with the help of the information and background knowledge offered by an experienced guide.
The stark landscape of Southwest Wyoming hides a vast array of natural treasures: from the mineral riches which led to so many of the area's settlements to the fossilized remains of ancient animals in the layers of rock of Fossil Butte National Monument. Fort Bridger was the last stop in Wyoming for the major emigrant trails and today's visitors can still get a sense of what those early pioneers saw in Southwest Wyoming. Home to more than 1600 wild horses in five separate Wild Horse Herd Management areas, South Wyoming is the place to visit these majestic animals in their wild natural habitat.
Caspar and the North Platte River are the heart of Central Wyoming. The surrounding landscape changes from sage-covered plains to tree-covered mountains: some of the most iconically 'Western' landscape you will find in the US. This is the corridor that many of America's pioneers followed in their treks across the country. Traditionally shared with a number of Native American tribes, Northeast Wyoming was a location of a great deal of conflict between them and the pioneers who began to encroach on Indian territory with their settlements.
In the Southeast of the state, Cheyenne and Laramie are the gateway cities to prairies supporting farming and ranching- herds of cattle and sheep and vast stretches of wheat fields colour the land. The plains give way to mountain ranges: the Laramie Mountains, the Medicine Bow Range and the Sierra Madre. The cities and towns of Saratoga, Encampment and Sinclair give this part of the state its frontier feel. Cheyenne is home to the annual Frontier Days rodeo, the largest of its kind in the world, where you can experience the best of the West with exciting rodeo action, nightly concerts, parades, an Indian village and amazing pancake breakfasts.
